Trivial works in club activities are preparations for entering the society
I had been practicing in badminton club till the graduation from the college. The most important thing I learned is the importance of preparation. Preparation for winning, along with the time and concentration paid, will decide the result of the game for both individuals and the team. The teaching from coach Shibuya, who was the advisor in the high school, was very helpful.
Back in high school, I was responsible for trivial works for supporters of the players. I remember that I was upset about that. However now I am glad that the work had been accomplished, and it turned into joyful memory. This is because I learned the right way and attitude toward preparation.
Players push themselves to the limit through practicing, hoping to be fully prepared on the day of the game. Rivals are being analyzed, and strategies to be taken are being image trained. Although these are common practices, the clearness and concentration are different between players, and it changes the result. Moreover, how games begin and change needs to have some degrees of freedom, which depends on the characteristics of the players. During basic trainings and warming-ups before games, they simulate every possible situation, uplift spirits, become concentrated, which make them able to come up with their own solutions for unexpected situations.
The most important thing for supporters is to help players entering the game at their best condition, and avoid any extra disturbance. Grasp the combinations before the tournament, memorize the time table, collect information such as the size of the stadium and its height, the position of lightings, locations of changing-room and nearest convenient store, etc., and tell them to the player when needed to avoid any confusion.
While I was at the first grade in high school, the manager who was my senior went to the Inter-highschool Championship to take photos and collect information. I can clearly recall that I was astonished by how hard they had prepared. The preparation paid off, and we won the team competition of the Championship. To conclude things I learned in high school, it is the importance to cope with both academic and club activities. It will not be easy for students who cannot participate in club activities regularly to enter the schools they expected. Therefore, besides club activities, I also worked hard on every subject, especially on how to write essays and reports.
After entering college, the abilities of sports and writing essays not only helped me earning credits, they are also useful on the work in the inter-university union which helps collaboration between colleges. Now I clearly believe that the reason I can be fully prepared in the college for entering the society was because of the foundation made in high school through preparations. I will from now on keep on learning from badminton, and make use of things learned in high school in both company and society.
